The Technical Department (TEC) under the Ministry of Telecommunications of India established relevant rules for telecom equipment conformity in 2017. These rules mandate that telecom equipment sold in India must undergo mandatory testing and certification before being imported for use. The testing will be conducted by India-recognized laboratories designated by TEC to meet the equipment's essential requirements (ER). TEC will issue a TEC certificate based on the testing report.

TEC certification covers product safety, electromagnetic compatibility, and technical product requirements. Currently, it includes 53 product categories, and based on the product's safety level, the certification types are classified into A, B, and C categories.

1. MTCTE portal account can only be registered by local OEMs in India or local representatives in India.

2. TEC testing projects must be conducted at local laboratories in India, and reports from overseas laboratories are not accepted.

4. After certification, the product must display the TEC label and relevant information.

5. A certificate can include a maximum of 10 models, including the main model and series models.
