ISTA Series 2: Partial Simulation Performance Tests. In addition to including the basic components of the non-simulation concentrated tests of ISTA Series 1, these tests also incorporate at least one component from the ISTA Series 3 comprehensive simulation performance tests, such as environmental conditioning, carton compression, or random vibration testing. ISTA Series 2 includes ISTA 2A, ISTA 2B, and ISTA 2C tests.

  • ISTA 2A is suitable for single packages weighing no more than 150 lb (68 kg).

  • ISTA 2B is suitable for single packages weighing more than 150 lb (68 kg).

  • ISTA 2C is suitable for partial simulation testing of single-package furniture.

Packaging Classification:

Small Packages


扁平型包装件

Small Packages: Must simultaneously meet the following three conditions:

  • Volume less than 13,000 cm³ (800 in³)

  • Longest edge no more than 350 mm (14 in)

  • Weight no more than 4.5 kg (10 lb)

Examples are as follows:

Flat Packages: Must simultaneously meet the following three conditions:

  • Shortest edge no more than 200 mm (8 in)

  • Second-shortest edge at least four times the shortest edge

  • Volume no less than 13,000 cm³ (800 in³)

Long and Narrow Packages

Standard Packages

Long and Narrow Packages: Must simultaneously meet the following two conditions:

  • Longest edge no less than 900 mm (36 in)

  • The other two edge lengths in the remaining axes are each no more than 20% of the longest edge

Standard Packages: All packages that do not fall into the above categories are collectively referred to as standard packages. Examples include corrugated cartons, plastic containers, wooden packaging, or cylindrical containers.
