Malaysia's MCMC officially released the "IMT-2020 System Architecture and Technical Requirements" (TC G027) in August 2021. This is not only the statutory standard for 5G network development, but also the golden guideline for enterprises applying for telecommunications equipment certification. This article will help you grasp the core requirements in just 3 minutes and reveal the key to passing certification successfully!

01
Why Pay Attention to the MCMC 5G Standard?

    • Formulated under Section 185 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, all 5G equipment operating in Malaysia must comply with this standard.

Devices that fail to obtain certification will not be allowed to connect to the national 5G network operated by DNB (Digital Nasional Berhad).

Core Requirements of the 5G Standard (Must-Read for Enterprises)

1. Dual-Mode Network Architecture

       Mode     Key Technologies Applicable Scenarios
NSA(非独立组网)依赖4G核心网,仅支持eMBB场景快速部署区域(成本优先)
SA(独立组网)全新5G核心网,支持eMBB/mMTC/URLLC智慧工厂/自动驾驶等前沿应用

  1. Performance Hard Indicators (extracted from Chapter 5.1 of the standard)

  • Rate: Download ≥ 100 Mbps and upload ≥ 50 Mbps in urban areas.

  • Delay: ≤ 4 ms for eMBB scenarios, ≤ 1 ms for URLLC scenarios (critical for industrial automation).

  • Connection Density: Support 1 million IoT devices per square kilometer.

  1. Three Key Technologies for Mandatory Certification

  • Network Slicing (Chapter 6.2.2 of the standard): Must implement three slicing types: eMBB/URLLC/mIoT.

  • Edge Computing (Chapter 6.2.1): UPF must support local service hosting ( for medical/manufacturing industries).

  • Security Specifications (Chapter 6.2): Must deploy SEPP security agents and SUCI encrypted communication.
