Addition of Category to BIS ISI Standards in November 2023: 2023 Measuring Instruments for Length (Quality Control) Order

       On November 21, 2023, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, India, issued S.O. 5029(E) – the 2023 Measuring Instruments for Length (Quality Control) Order. The order states that measuring instruments for length are included in the mandatory BIS ISI certification product list and will come into effect six months after its publication on the official website.

Furthermore, nothing in this notification shall apply to goods or articles manufactured domestically for export.

It is further provided that, in the case of micro enterprises as defined in clauses (h) and (m) of Section 2 of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (Act No. 27 of 2006), the provisions of this notification shall come into effect upon the expiry of twelve months from the date of its publication.

It is also provided that, in the case of small enterprises as defined in clauses (h) and (m) of Section 2 of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (Act No. 27 of 2006), the provisions of this notification shall come into effect upon the expiry of nine months from the date of its publication.
